My original 100 goals

Round about 2007 I decided I had three goals I wanted to achieve before I was 40 but each seemed impossibly large and I was unsure I could achieve any, let alone all three in the five years remaining.

My original three goals were:
  1. Complete a degree qualification
  2. Be earning £40,000 a year (One thousand pounds for each year's life experience)
  3. Complete a novel
I was quite determined to achieve my goals and worked away at the first two, though did not apply any special methods or have any clear idea other than to keep working away.

Something changed for me in late 2008 and I began to learn how I could use goal setting and different methods to achieve my goals and a world of possibilities opened up to me.

I have been reading more and more about motivation and how to achieve ones goals and as I have applied what I have learned, I have been even more motivated!

One suggestion I found in Brian Tracy's book Goals!: How to Get Everything You Want - Faster Than You Ever Thought Possible - has been to write down 100 goals you want to achieve in your lifetime. He suggests that everyone he knows who has done this starts to see those goals achieved in a much shorter time than they thought possible.

Having started to see success with a few goals I have decided to give it a go. On the 28 October 2009 I sat for two hours and wrote down 100 goals I want to achieve. I called a friend while I was writing and as we joked about what I was doing the idea came to write a blog about how I get on. Strangely enough, my wife suggested the same thing when she came home later that evening and I read her my goal list.

So, I published my goals for the world to see, or at least a few friends and family :) Some are quite personal and some are cryptic. I did not expect to achieve them all and knew that some may change as time went by.

I am hoping that as I achieve my goals, my vision and expectation will grow.

I welcome your comments and thoughts and any offers of help to complete these goals!
